does anyone here have any experience with a multistage wastegate? if you don't know what it is, it allows you to have multiple boost levels.

i was looking for a way to hook it to a window switch (i think) so that i can have three different boost levels. i'm sure huafist would have some idea, but does anyone else (i hate to keep asking questions to the same person  )

the idea is...

0-6000rpm ~> 10psi
6001-11000rpm ~> 15psi
11,001-16,000 ~> 20psi

i still need it to have a fail-safe setting of totally open if the engine were to blow or perhaps the throttle cable become stuck and i have to throw the kill switch kinda thing... just to preserve the turbo in an emercency...

so i need...

*open*
10psi
15psi
20psi

looks to be 3 stages with a 0 return setting. (i don't want the last stage to be a totally shut wastegate because i don't want it to continue to gain boost all the way through and then kill the turbo in the drag race)

i have found these multistage kits...

here at...

but in all honesty i think i can make one cheaper... does anyone know a way to do so? i know about the DIY controller, and i want to make a DIY one... but with 3 stages and a fail-safe..

:hmmm: :tech: :feedback:

Your asking for a lot.

I would run soleniods off boost switches if I was you.

like, i've found electronic boost controllers that have multiple ramps... but they are as expensive as sin :punch:

they sound like some over done bullshit you'd find on nopi.com....why would you need multiple stages of boost...??? you hit as much as you can and be done with it??? argg...isn't it called a boost controller for those guys wanting to run less on the street and more at the track?? ...damn i'm just in a bad mood i guess lol...either way, kenny, it sounds like dumbshit...go with what's tried and true...

problem is with the map i'm outside the surge line down low because it such a HUGE rpm band

You can do it with boost switches and soleniods pretty easy. Thats how I control my meth injection.

What are you going to turn 11,001-16,000 20psi with?

gixxer motor

If it were me, I'd use a MAP sensor, the RPM signal, some solenoids, and a PIC microprocessor to do it - but that's just me. I overengineer things from time to time :nice:
