Im just asking to get a feel....

Just answer with what you feel would work the best so we can get a idea as to what everyone is looking for....Sry 4WD guys

How many pulls
How much do you think it should cost
How many cars in 1 day
Should there be prizes for most and least whp(would depend on how many cars)
Should we break it up into certain days.....FWD,RWDs,tuners vs domestics,
Just post up your ideas
Please try and keep it on point. Please remember that im only asking for some input not a well i would do it if you charged $5 a pull , gave to 1 hr to tune between pulls and i can have 10 pulls....:nono:

I think two or three pulls would be good. That way you can switch settings like motor to nitrous or low to high boost. If you could keep the cost down to ~$30 that would be great. Personally I would just have a prize for the most HP and not break up the cars into categories.

i like having mixed cars there, to compete like domestics and ricers on the same day

id say 25/30 bucks a pull is fair, 3 pulls max per person per day

prizes dont interest me

and i like the idea of having just the owner of the car in teh shop with scott/nate/whoever else helps with him

so nothing gets broke/stolen

but id like to stay in to get some pics of the cars on teh dyno, and of you/scott in action

id really like to come to thenext dynoday

~$30-$40
2 pulls
Start the day early and go through the night with a few couple hour breaks through out the day.

And I also agree with the part Matt said about letting him in to get some photos. So it would be the owner of the car/shop employees/and Matt taking pictures...

Hell I'd say let Andy back there too or any other good photographers. They're all good people anyway and I would trust them.

That way you all will get some good photos to promote The Shop.

Im sure the next dyno day the shop will be empty besides a few cars...Most will be moved to the other part of the shop

Maybe a contest? I read once where some shop did this, teams of 5 dyno, X amount to enter, who ever has the highest total HP wins. Maybe do a charity thing get some big guys from around the area.

I think price should be up to scott and yourself. Depending on how many cars are dynoing for the day. Come up with a price so more cars cheaper it would be you know. Like have a price for 10 or less then 15/20 wouldbe the next price cut. Dont even have to be a big cut eaither. I think that would be a good way to do the pricing.

I think since there going to be hardly no one in the shop while this is going on. Maybe get some trust worthy people to help you guys out. I know its just you and scott there. I know it going to get tiring always starping in car and such. But good luck i cant wait for the first dyno day.

I say. 2 pulls for 40 bucks....Only separate days if you have THAT many cars. Just give prizes for Na/FI 4 cyl, 6 cyl, 8 cyl and so on.

OH and I think the prizes for winners of class should win a 3 dyno pulls for 20 bucks. coupon usable anytime.

have a rwd dyno day and a fwd dyno day...if theres alot of cars it would make things run smoother....cause im pretty sure both cars are setup different on the dyno....and id say 40 bucks for 2 pulls....

I agree on the two pulls max, I'd be happy with one myself. Usually the second pull out of the three is the highest but it's a dyno day for fun nothing serious. I think if you want to do the prize deal, just do one for the highest and possibly the lowest. I say limit yourself to a set number of cars and let people claim them on a first come first serve basis by posting up.

TiAgZ4Mc
01-31-2009, 10:51 PM
Yea, good idea for set number of cars. I think though that if there is enough interest, that there should be another one.

i would also suggest if your gonna do prizes for the highest HP then there should be a rule that the car has to be driven to the shop, no trailer quees or race cars. kinda not fair for everyone else with street cars.

The number of cars would be totally up to you guys. If it were my dyno, I'd have guys there that could swap out running the dyno so they wouldn't get too tired. I would run until all cars were dynoed. I would do 2 pull's. $40

When I would go to dyno days down at ACC in Knoxville it would cost $50 for 3 pulls with wideband. They'd start about 9am and go till around 5 or maybe a little later and usually get 12-15 cars through in a typical day.

XX2 and 30-40 bucks for 3 pulls seem good to me!!

Bigblockhatch
02-01-2009, 08:42 AM
We are pretty much thinking its going to be $40 for 2 pulls...That way if someone wants to run 2 settings(low/high boost...All motor/XXX shot.....ojust 2 pulls the same way) or 2 the same way....Dave you are correct. Most cars seem to make more power on the 2nd pull cause of a little heat in the motor....Mine made the most after 8 pulls with E85...the last 3 were all back to back..

The 2 pulls for $40 sounds good to me. I just want to get a baseline on the motor and the a\f and if the the a\f is good I may spray it. Are they going to use the wideband? The only prize I want is the dyno sheet.

I really dont have anything to dyno so Ill just give my opinion, I think 2 pulls, have some regular dyno days then have some where its like teams with highest HP win etc, awards given out for the cars with highest HP driven there, and a grill outside to cook on lol

I'd like to see 3 pulls for 30-50. Bascially because I want two pulls then one with the nitrous :) I'd say set up a schedule and fill it first come first served. That way you don't have a ton of people hanging around. No necessarily car A shows up at 3:10, but more like from 1-3 we do these people, from 3-5 we do these people....

A couple of my thoughts . Take in mind I've never seen a dyno run , except on the net . So if I'm wrong about the amount of time it takes to do something , I'm just wrong . BBH said "It takes 5-10 mins to strap one down...." in another post . And from what I've seen on the net a minute or less to make a run . You could like charge 25 to 35 for the first run and 10 to 15 for the 2nd and 3rd run . Of course , that would be while the car was up there and strapped down . Give them like 3 minutes between runs to make adjustments then the next run starts . That way the guys that had 2 or 3 different settings/combo's could get the runs he needs and it would let the guys that just wanted to do 1 pass in a little cheaper and out a little faster . That would give more people what they wanted , and with the higher cost of the first run The Shop be getting paid for there time as well as thier Dyno . To keep the spectators down , you could sale tickets in advance , paid in advance ( no refunds ) . Set a date for the Dyno day , set a date when ticket sales will start so everyone would be able to make plans . You could even sell here in the forum and take pay pal . That way people from farther away would have a chance . I'm sure there are more people that will drive 100 miles KNOWING they are going to get on than will to stand in line and maybe go home empty handed . As far as a prize for highest HP , come on , how do you top highest HP at Dyno Days ? EVERYONE wants those bragin' rights , six .

That is what we would be called dyno tuning by my definition.

Me and Nate we talk over and maybe set the date and time over this weekend.

Dyno day will be $40 per car. 2 pulls so it gets the drivetrain warm up and engine temp up to normal.

A person who needs more than 2 pulls, please contact me ahead of your dyno run. I will consider another pull BY my judgement to see if your 3rd run will suit our time schedule.

This is only to make it fair and quick to get everyone on dyno. however, I understand that some cars have different set ups, and it takes different amounts of time to change things. All we are doing is dyno day not a dyno tune day. If you need to get your car tune we can tune your car after the dyno day or schedule one.

if you need 3rd pulls, it is $10 extra for 3rd pull. Which will make every fair to everyone that would like to have 3 pulls instead of 2....

so here is

Dyno day $40 for 2 pulls
3rd run $10 extra.

Most cars can change few things within time frame so that it isnt taking forever slowing it down so that you can only run 10-15 cars in 1 day.

Its commom that poeple cant do their changes within certain time frame beause it becomes troubleshooting instead of making a quick change..Like was stated I will consider ALL 3rd pulls if anyone needs it and all you have to do is come talk to me ahead of time.

main reason for dyno day is to have a good time, meet new poeple and talk about different cars, and I am pretty sure some of guys going to be dissapointed by the dyno results/numbers and will says this dyno read higher or lower than what internet says or other different place says. well dyno is tuning tool where you can learn how your car is going to react different set-ups you have changed from before. The main thing you want from dyno is consistency.

Only way to use the dyno most efficiently is that you find the dyno close to you and do the base pull to whatever you changed on your car. Therefore, no matter what people says about different dynamometer readings are. if you use only one dyno for first to last, then you will see the adjustment/upgrade you have made is worth of time and money or other way around.

I hope poeple can understand how the dyno is used as tuning tool not only the mathmatical calulator.
