This looks like it is going to be a very fun day!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
Bristol Dragway concludes another successful season of street-legal drag racing as it hosts the Ride Revolution Nights "Motor Mayhem" Saturday, Sept. 30.
This year's season finale is packed full of exciting events such as a car show, class eliminations, true street challenge, power hour, Scion tC giveaway, PINKS rematch grudge race and a burnout contest.
The car show will be broken down into four classes: Best Import, Best Domestic, Best Interior and Best Exterior. Trophies and $50 will be awarded to the winners of each class.
A new concept to this year's Motor Mayhem is the introduction of class racing. Each driver will compete in one of the five racing classes: Motorcycle, Four-Cylinder, Six-Cylinder, Eight-Cylinder and Modified with the winner of each class taking home a trophy and $50.
The True Street Challenge provides racers a unique opportunity to see how their car handles Thunder Valley's dragstrip under normal driving conditions. Entrants in the competition will drive their cars 20 miles on the road. After a brief cool down each car will make three passes down the track. Awards will be given for the lowest elapsed time, highest mile per hour and most consistent elapsed times in both car and bike classes. Entry fee for True Street Challenge is $15.
One lucky individual will leave Bristol Dragway at the end of the evening in a brand new Scion tC. During each previous Ride Revolution Nights event one name has been drawn from the following locations: Tri-City Scion Dealerships (Bristol, Kingsport, Johnson City), Ride Revolution and Ride Revolution Nights, which qualified them for the giveaway. Five finalists will receive a set of keys and the contestant's key that starts the engine wins the sleek new car.
Fans in attendance will be in for a treat as they have the opportunity to see a rematch of a drag race in person that was recently taped for a popular drag racing show on Speed Channel. Bristol Dragway will host a grudge match between Jon Phillips of Erwin, Tenn. and Shean Thorne of Hannibal, N.Y., recent competitors on an episode of PINKS. The opponents will face off again in a best two out of three race format.
During regularly scheduled drag racing, the eight quickest cars and motorcycles will qualify for Power Hour. Once Power Hour qualifying ends, racers in the show will square off in heads-up racing where the winner pockets $400, runner-up wins $200 and semifinalists take home $100. The burnout competition, always a crowd favorite, is set to start at 11 p.m. Contests and drawings will occur throughout the afternoon.
YearOne Autocross, a new addition this year to Ride Revolution Nights, will run from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Gates open at 1 p.m. Spectator pricing is $5 with Ride Revolution Nights racers paying $10. For more information, please log on to www.riderevolutionnights.com or call (423) 764-DRAG.
